The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is designed for learners who wish to develop broad technical expertise across multiple areas of information technology while building the professional competencies required for higher education and industry. The qualification combines Level 4 and Level 5 learning, providing a comprehensive pathway that develops both fundamental and advanced IT knowledge.

At Level 4, learners study four mandatory units covering Information Technology and IT Ethics, Mathematics and Statistics for IT, PC Maintenance and Operating Systems, and Computer Graphics Editing and Database Concepts, alongside two elective units selected from areas such as networking, web design, programming, graphical user interfaces, and Android programming. At Level 5, learners complete four mandatory units in Technopreneurship, Network Security, C#.NET Programming, and System Administration, together with two specialist elective units that further develop expertise in networking, web design, or e-commerce.

The qualification consists of 240 credits, 1,200 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), and 2,400 Total Qualification Time (TQT). Throughout the programme, learners develop technical competence in networking, software development, database systems, web technologies, cybersecurity, digital business, and IT infrastructure while strengthening analytical thinking, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills required by modern organisations.

Successful learners can progress to Level 6 qualifications, the final year of an undergraduate degree programme (subject to university entry requirements), or pursue careers in software development, networking, systems administration, web technologies, cybersecurity, digital transformation, technical support, database management, and enterprise information technology.
