The focus is on identifying technology risks, evaluating controls and determining whether systems and data can be relied upon.

Our vision is to help CPA candidates build the technology, control and assurance knowledge required in modern accounting. The mission of CPA ISC with Musa Shaikh is to provide structured, practical and exam-focused preparation covering information systems, IT controls, data management, cybersecurity, privacy, SOC engagements, risk assessment, professional judgement and Task-Based Simulations. The focus is on understanding how technology affects financial information, where risks arise and how CPAs evaluate system reliability and controls.
ISC - Information Systems and Controls is one of three optional Discipline sections of the Uniform CPA Examination. Candidates must pass three Core sections: AUD, FAR and REG, plus one Discipline: BAR, ISC or TCP. Eligibility depends on the requirements of the selected U.S. jurisdiction and may include education, accounting and business credits, international qualifications and foreign credential evaluation. Choosing ISC does not create a separate CPA licence. All Discipline choices lead to the same CPA licensure pathway, subject to applicable jurisdictional requirements.
The current CPA ISC Blueprint divides the examination into three major content areas.
This area develops understanding of how organisations use information systems and how accountants and auditors evaluate those systems.

Instructor-led lectures with Musa Shaikh simplify complex information systems concepts by connecting them to accounting and assurance. The approach moves from systems and data to risks, controls, security, evidence, assurance, and CPA exam questions, helping candidates understand and apply concepts rather than memorise technical terms.
Practice is essential for CPA ISC, with MCQs and Task-Based Simulations covering IT controls, cybersecurity, data management, cloud computing, access controls, change management, privacy, and SOC 1 and SOC 2. Candidates learn to identify technology risks, evaluate controls, distinguish technical concepts, and select appropriate responses using realistic exam scenarios.
Mock examinations simulate CPA ISC testing conditions and assess overall readiness. Performance analysis identifies gaps in technology concepts, terminology, cybersecurity, SOC topics, MCQs, TBSs, and time management, enabling targeted final revision for greater score improvement.
Berkeley monitors CPA ISC preparation quality through instructor expertise, AICPA Blueprint coverage, study materials, MCQ and TBS performance, cybersecurity and SOC knowledge, mock examinations, candidate feedback and academic progress.
