CPA TCP with Musa Shaikh provides advanced preparation in U.S. federal taxation, tax compliance, tax planning, and personal financial planning for professionals across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, USA, UK, and Europe.
The CPA Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP) course with Musa Shaikh prepares candidates for one of the three optional Discipline sections of the Uniform CPA Examination. The program covers individual taxation, entity tax compliance and planning, property transactions, and personal financial planning, with advanced federal taxation, calculations, tax-return analysis, MCQs, TBSs, and focused exam techniques. TCP follows the AICPA framework for U.S. federal tax compliance, tax planning, and personal financial planning.
The Uniform CPA Examination is developed and scored by the AICPA, with examination administration supported by NASBA and Prometric.
United States of America.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants represents accounting, taxation, audit and finance professionals working across public accounting, corporate organisations, government, advisory and education.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), established in 1887, has played a major role in advancing the U.S. accounting profession and the Uniform CPA Examination.
Berkeley's Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Tax Compliance and Planning training with Musa Shaikh develops professionals who can analyse complex tax matters, apply United States federal tax legislation and provide effective tax-compliance and planning solutions.
CPA examination eligibility is determined by the relevant U.S. Board of Accountancy. Candidates must meet their selected jurisdiction’s education and examination requirements before approval. TCP is one of three Discipline sections: BAR, ISC, or TCP, and candidates select only one. Regardless of the Discipline chosen, candidates pursue the same CPA licence.
The current CPA TCP Blueprint divides the examination into four major areas.
This area combines advanced individual tax compliance with practical tax and personal financial planning.
It represents one of the two largest areas of TCP.
Advanced Individual Tax Compliance
At-Risk and Passive Activity Loss Limitations
Tax Planning for Individuals
Insurance
Estate and Gift Considerations
Entity Tax Compliance is a major TCP examination area, covering advanced U.S. federal taxation for C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, and Tax-Exempt Organisations.
C Corporation Tax Compliance
S Corporation Tax Compliance
Partnership Tax Compliance
Transactions Between Owners and Entities
Trusts
Tax-Exempt Organisations
Tax planning requires candidates to evaluate transactions before they occur.
Rather than simply determining the tax resulting from an existing transaction, candidates compare alternative structures and recommend more tax-efficient approaches.
Choice of Entity
Entity Formation
Entity Liquidation
Tax Planning for S Corporations
Tax Planning for Partnerships
The final TCP area focuses on advanced tax treatment arising from the disposition of property.
Candidates must understand both the amount and character of gains and losses.
Tax Basis
Non-Taxable and Tax-Deferred Transactions
Related-Party Transactions
Property Dispositions

CPA TCP preparation combines AICPA Blueprint-aligned taxation with practical tax-planning application. Candidates develop conceptual and numerical skills across individual and entity taxation, basis, loss limitations, property transactions, distributions, formation, and liquidation, while learning to compare tax alternatives, review returns, identify errors, and prioritise study based on Blueprint weightings and performance.
Instructor-led lectures with Musa Shaikh connect tax compliance and planning through a structured approach covering taxpayers, transactions, tax rules, basis, tax consequences, alternative strategies, and exam application, helping candidates progress from tax calculations to effective planning.
TCP practice covers advanced tax calculations, entity taxation, basis, loss limitations, property transactions, tax planning, personal financial planning, MCQs, and TBSs. Realistic tax returns, K-1s, schedules, worksheets, and supporting documents help candidates apply tax rules, evaluate alternatives, and select the appropriate compliance or planning response.
Mock examinations simulate TCP testing conditions and assess readiness by identifying weaknesses in taxation, basis, planning, entity taxation, calculations, MCQs, TBSs, and time management, enabling targeted final revision.
Berkeley ensures effective CPA TCP preparation through experienced instruction, current AICPA Blueprint and taxation content, quality study materials, numerical and tax-planning practice, MCQs, TBSs, mock exams, candidate feedback, and academic progress monitoring.
CPA TCP Content Weighting: Individual Tax Compliance and Personal Financial Planning 30%–40%, Entity Tax Compliance 30%–40%, Entity Tax Planning 10%–20%, and Property Transactions 10%–20%. The two largest areas can together represent up to 80% of the examination.
Important 2026 Tax Update
CPA TCP preparation should reflect current testable U.S. federal tax legislation. Under AICPA testing policy, tax law changes generally become testable in the calendar quarter beginning six months after the later of enactment or effective date. For H.R. 1, enacted on 4 July 2025, applicable provisions became testable in REG and TCP from 1 July 2026, subject to the relevant tax-testing rules.
TCP Skill Weighting: Remembering and Understanding 5%–15%, Application 55%–65%, and Analysis 25%–35%. This weighting highlights the importance of applying and analysing tax rules rather than relying on memorisation.
Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP) is a CPA Discipline section offered during designated testing periods rather than continuous Core testing. For 2026, Discipline exams are scheduled in January, April, July, and October, with October 2026 being the remaining scheduled period, subject to availability and schedule changes.
The CPA TCP examination is a four-hour computer-based Discipline exam comprising 68 MCQs and 7 TBSs across five testlets. MCQs account for 50% of the score and TBSs for 50%.
CPA Examination scores are reported on a 0–99 scale, with a minimum passing score of 75 for each section. A score of 75 does not mean 75% of questions were answered correctly, as CPA scores use a scaled scoring methodology.
The Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination is available throughout the United States of America and at approved international Prometric testing locations. Candidates in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and other international locations should confirm current examination availability when scheduling.
