The CIMA Strategic Case Study (SCS) examination is 3 hours long, with the examination time divided across three main sections of approximately 60 minutes each. Section 1 – Business contains two sub-tasks, with approximately 60% of the available time allocated to part (a) and 40% to part (b). Section 2 – Finance also contains two sub-tasks, with approximately 50% of the time allocated to each part. Section 3 – Risk & Control contains three sub-tasks, with approximately one-third of the available time allocated to each requirement. Candidates should manage their time carefully and ensure that every requirement is attempted.
The CIMA Strategic Case Study examination is offered across four examination windows each year: February, May, August and November. Candidates should check the current CIMA examination timetable for the exact booking deadlines, pre-seen release dates and examination dates for their intended sitting.
The CIMA Strategic Case Study is reported on a scaled score from 0 to 150, and candidates require a scaled score of 80 or above to pass. The scaled score should not be interpreted as a direct percentage mark; therefore, it is better not to describe 80 as approximately 53%.
The CIMA Strategic Case Study is a computer-based examination. Examination availability and delivery arrangements may vary by location and examination window. Candidates should check the current CIMA examination booking system for available test-centre or remote examination options applicable to them.
