Exam Dates

Certified Internal Auditor examinations are generally available throughout the year, subject to registration and Pearson VUE testing-centre availability. Once an examination registration is purchased, candidates generally have 180 days to schedule and sit the examination subject to their overall certification-program expiry date. 

Passing Criteria

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examinations use a scaled scoring system, with candidates requiring a minimum score of 600 out of 750 to pass. However, the scaled score should not be interpreted as a simple percentage of correct answers, as the final result reflects the examination’s scoring methodology.

Important 2026 Syllabus Note

The program follows the current 2025 Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Part 2 syllabus, aligned with the Global Internal Audit Standards. For Arabic-language candidates, The Institute of Internal Auditors states that the Arabic examination remains on the previous syllabus until 27 December 2026, before transitioning to the revised syllabus on 28 December 2026.
