A Level Mathematics

A Level Mathematics develops logical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical modelling skills through Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and Probability & Statistics. The course prepares students for higher education and future careers in science, engineering, technology, finance, and related fields.

 

Overview

Cambridge International A Level Mathematics develops transferable skills including logical reasoning, analytical thinking, mathematical problem-solving, and independent learning. The course strengthens the ability to work with mathematical information, apply mathematical models, analyse results, and evaluate findings across a wide range of academic and practical contexts. Learners study key areas such as Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and Probability & Statistics, preparing them for higher education and future careers in science, engineering, technology, finance, economics, and related fields. At both AS and A Level, students may follow different course pathways depending on their chosen applied mathematics options.

Please note: From 2020, Cambridge International A Level Mathematics offers two routes: Pure Mathematics and Probability & Statistics only; or Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and Probability & Statistics.

What is the eligibility?

Students who have completed IGCSE, GCSE, O Level, or an equivalent secondary education qualification with a strong foundation in Mathematics are eligible to enroll in A Level Mathematics. The programme is suitable for learners planning to pursue higher education and careers in engineering, computer science, finance, economics, data science, technology, and other mathematics-related fields.
